Chapter Eleven
Graduation!
The day of my graduation was finally here. It seemed like it took an eternity. I told y'all I was a smart chick and wasn't gon’ play when it came to school. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and I was valedictorian. When they called my name to speak, I cried and was choking over my words. The audience cheered me on. It was so beautiful, they were encouraging me to keep on speaking, ‘cause I was whimpering like a little two year old child. I searched the audience and saw my daddy with a huge I love you smile plastered on his face. After I thanked God, I thanked my daddy. “I would love to thank my father, Jay Carter.” He rose, we exchanged smiles, I saw Amelia along the side of him taking pictures and my mother recording the ceremony. I continued showing my father my appreciation. “Without my father, I don't know where I would be now. He has been so supporting all my life, and I just wanna thank him for being the best dad ever.” I blew a kiss with teary eyes. I was so emotional that day, it was crazy. Honestly, I was just happy that my dad was in the audience and actually got the chance to see me receive that important document. “I love you, Daddy.” I said to close my speech. The crowd clapped and applauded my job well done.
The greatest feeling ever was when they called my name to get that diploma, Jayah Donteea Carter. I shook the principal's hand and received my honors diploma. An arrogant feeling rushed down my spine. That was just so tight to me. Man, I was overexcited.
The graduation was over and we were ready to celebrate. I hugged and kissed cheeks what seemed like forever. Finally, everybody went outside. Me and Tee both spotted these bad-ass Range Rovers that were parked right in the front, wrapped in red ribbons. My first thought was, damn! Whose Ranges are these? Man, shit, they are so so major. I'm kinda jealous. My daddy laughed at the expressions that sat on our faces and he finally handed me and Tee the keys. We were feeling good, to say the least.
He had gotten me the purple one. The truck had white leather guts, the trimming was in purple with my name written in the headrest in purple suede. Purple, soft, low cut mink carpet sat comfortably on the floor. TVs was equipped in the front and in the back of my headrest. Tee had the same one. Hers was hot pink though. I knew he'd gotten the vehicles custom like that. It had to be an estimate close to 100 G's. Our cars was banging, daddy even gotten the trucks lifted and had some 26-inch chrome rims supporting the frames. We already thought we were the shit, but after that day, we really knew we were shittin’. Range Rovering on bitches, at the mere age of 18, though. Hence, from that day forth, we weren't gonna play.
